Coastal Accents Millwork | Japandi Meets Joinery
Coastal Accents Millwork is a cabinet showroom and millwork company in Oak Bay, Victoria. They work with people to help them build high-quality kitchens, cabinets, and millwork that lasts. Backed by decades of construction expertise through their sister company MAC Reno, they combine boutique-level service with expert execution to bring millwork solutions that fit customers' tastes and lifestyles.
The Problem
Coastal Accents was a brand-new company being backed by its long-standing sister company MAC Reno. This created a unique opportunity to create something different while subtly nodding to their roots. From the beginning, it was clear that the identity needed to spring from their showroom interior design, which was done in a Japandi style.

The Concept
Japandi Meets Joinery
Coastal Accents Millwork stands apart as a refined cabinetry and millwork company that brings together the craftsmanship of boutique design experience with the confidence of a trusted, established construction partner and manufacturer. The brand identity is a reflection of the interior design. It takes cues from Japandi design and marries them with visual cues for millwork. This beautiful intersection creates a strong and ownable identity for Coastal Accents that sets it apart from competitors.

The Solution
The process was a whirlwind of inspiration. Starting with what their Interior Designer provided and the different types of joinery and intersections, Jason Schultz (Creative Director) and I hit the ground running with a concept from the get-go. Dovetails, dowels, bridle joints, half-laps, mitre joints. They all provided iconic imagery that could be accented in a unique set of graphic elements for Coastal Accents. The result was an expansive brand system that feels crafted, sophisticated, and built to last.
