Kenton’s Lesson Studio | A Two-in-One Brand Identity

Kenton Willem is a very talented jazz musician based on Vancouver Island. He approached me wanting a logo system that he could use for both his lesson studio and for performance advertising. After graduating from Berklee College of Music, Kenton moved back to the island to teach and perform. With his primary instruments being saxophone and piano, he wanted to include both in his logo. This proved to be an interesting challenge, but I was up for it!

The Bristle Brothers are a brother painting duo based on Vancouver Island, Canada. Chris came to me with the idea of going for a retro illustrated logo concept showcasing him and his brother Nick with Chris’ dog Charlie. I saw the vision right away, I’m always happy to work on conceptually driven brands, in fact, I encourage them! They help you stand out because you’re not trying to be like anyone else. MagPies was making plant-based seasonal pies using locally sourced ingredients. When Cathy contacted me I was very excited to start this project. Vegan pies? Sign me up! We decided to design a brand system with logo variations for each season. The primary application for these logos would be on MagPies’ pie labels, so it made sense to have a transitional system that would be used as visual cues for each new season.
